Dubbo’s blood donors will now be served by Australian Red Cross Lifeblood after the blood service underwent a rebranding to focus on an ‘exciting new chapter’. Spokesman Brian Bruce said the rebranding reflects the broader set of responsibilities of the organization. “Blood is at the heart of what we do, but now we are more than blood,” said Bruce. “The name Lifeblood reflects the role we play in the Australian community, now and in the future, while celebrating our selfless donors.” “In addition to blood products, we now provide safe and donated breast milk to premature babies, essential organ matching services and our world-renowned research and development. Bruce said the organization will always depend on regional donors to ensure a stable blood supply. Donor Chris Horan, who has traveled from Gilgandra to the Dubbo Donation Center for the past 34 years, says the service has modernized significantly over the years. “It’s a much better experience now, the facilities are more modern and you can donate plasma as well as whole blood.” “Please donate while you can, you never know when you might need a blood product yourself. “
